Sail Stockholm Archipelago
What this trip actually is
It’s a hands-on sailing experience where you’ll be part of the crew; learning the basics, helping navigate, and living aboard a modern yacht for the week. You don’t need sailing experience. Just a willingness to jump in. A professional captain leads the journey, but this is shared - from plotting the day’s route to tying up at anchor.
HOW IT WORKS
You’ll sail together as a group - not passengers, but participants
The captain guides and teaches, but everyone can get involved
No fixed route; the plan adapts to weather, wind, and group energy
Provisioning is shared (we’ll organize before departure)
Expect a balance of sailing time, island stops, and downtime
Group size is intentionally small to keep the experience tight and social.
THE BOAT
Your home for the week is a Bavaria 50, a modern sailing yacht designed for both performance and comfort.
Four guest cabins, three bathrooms, wide teak decks for lounging, and a bright interior for shared meals and downtime.
Cabins are shared (double occupancy). Space is efficient, not excessive, part of the experience is living closely, simply, and together.
MEET YOUR CAPTAIN
You’ll be sailing with Mattias Wallin, a local captain who knows these waters inside and out. This isn’t a scripted tour, it’s his backyard.
He’ll guide the sailing, teach along the way, and help shape the route based on conditions — from hidden anchorages to the best islands to stop on any given day.

Day 1. Stockholm to Saltsjöbaden (June 28)
Late morning departure from Stockholm. Lunch on board as we cruise out through the city and into the archipelago.

Day 2. Sail, Swim & Sauna (June 29)
Morning in Saltsjöbaden, optional jog and breakfast ashore.
Set sail toward the outer archipelago. Lunch onboard, anchored off granite cliffs for a swim and time on deck.
Arrive at Idöborg in the evening for sauna, cold plunges, and a classic grill dinner.
-
Day 3. Quiet Bays & Nature Harbors (June 30)
Morning kayak in sheltered waters, then lunch at Idöborg.
Sail to a quieter, more remote island like Bullerön. Moor in a natural harbor, explore trails and granite outcrops, and take in wide-open sea views.
Dinner onboard, followed by sauna and an evening swim.
-
Day 4. Open Water & Sandhamn (July 1)
Start with an optional swimrun or a longer open-water sail toward the outer archipelago. More exposed conditions and a stronger sense of the Baltic.
Arrive in Sandhamn, a legendary sailing hub where regattas, dockside energy, and a steady flow of boats define the atmosphere.
Dinner ashore and a lively night, one of the more social stops of the week.
-
Day 5. Island Hopping to Möja (July 2)
A slower morning, then a scenic sail north through the archipelago. Arrive in Möja, one of the most authentic islands, with a working harbor, local shops, and a lived-in feel.
Dinner at a waterfront tavern and a relaxed evening ashore.
-
Day 6. Trails & Final Night (July 3)
Morning run or walk on Möja, then a short sail to Svartsö. Slow afternoon to explore, swim, or just be on the water.
Final dinner at Svartsö Krog, one of the archipelago’s standout restaurants.
-
Day 7. The Grand Finale (July 4)
Sail back through the inner archipelago to Vaxholm for a classic Swedish lunch by the water.
Continue into Stockholm and wrap up the journey back in the city.
For those staying on, optional dinner plans and a final night out.
