If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting the Himalayas, this off-the-beaten-path adventure is for you.
In the high mountains of Ladakh, Northern India, you’ll search for the elusive snow leopard in one of the most reliable regions on earth to spot them. You’ll be guided by proven experts. The Ladakhi tracking team featured in BBC Planet Earth will lead the way, alongside Adam Popescu, an American journalist who has photographed snow leopards for The Washington Post and Bloomberg.
This is more than a safari. Ladakh is a wild, biodiverse frontier, home to wolves, ibex, urial, Tibetan foxes, and wild horses, set against high passes, ancient Buddhist monasteries, endless skies, and peaks that rival any you’ve ever seen.
Days begin with hearty breakfasts and the trained eye of guides who scan the mountains to bring you closer than you might think possible to the elusive ghost of the Himalayas. Expect valley walks and picnic lunches, 4X4 access and spotting scopes, and evenings spent swapping stories over delicious organic dinners. You’ll stay in a cozy cottage style hotel in a remote village where the stars come out at night and in the day wildlife often does too, sometimes right outside your window.
This is the trip for wildlife lovers and a photographer’s dream.
We guarantee you’ll feel closer to nature here than you ever have before.

Welcome to Your Off-Grid Winter Basecamp in Bakhmaro!
We stay in simple, rustic wooden cottages tucked into the snow-covered hills high above Bakhmaro. These are authentic alpine cabins - cozy, warm, and functional - but don’t expect luxury.
Shared twin rooms (double occupancy: 2 guests per room)
Shared bathrooms with hot water
Communal lounge and dining areas
On-site sauna and solarium to warm up and wind down
Hearty, home-cooked Georgian meals served family-style
Somewhat reliable Wi-Fi (good enough for a message, perhaps not a Zoom call)
This is a true mountain escape, where the comfort comes from the crew and the adventure, not the thread count.

Bakhmaro is a remote alpine paradise in the Lesser Caucasus. You’ll ski a wide range of terrain: powder bowls, glades, gullies, open runs, and dense forests — all accessed by snowcat (no lifts). The area is 80 km² with vertical drops of 400–1,000m per run.
Expect:
Wide open powder runs
Technical gullies and mellow tree skiing
Snow-covered abandoned cabins and untouched glades
Deep, light powder thanks to Bakhmaro’s sea-mountain microclimate
-
Most groups get 8 to 12 runs per day, totaling 11.5-14.5 vertical feet (3.5–4.5K vertical meters). Terrain choice varies by snow and group ability.
-
All guides are IFMGA and GMGA certified — the highest international standard. They’re experienced in first aid, avalanche forecasting, and mountain rescue, and each group has:
1 lead guide and 1 tail guide (1:6 ratio)
Constant radio contact with snowcat/lodge
Emergency kits and satellite phone on hand
-
Mandatory:
Avalanche transceiver
Shovel
Probe
Avalanche airbag backpack
Rentals are available if booked in advance. Helmets are highly recommended.
-
This trip is tailored to advance and expert off-piste skiers and riders. You should:
